Truck Stolen with baby still in vehicle
There was a little while back a case of a stolen vehicle with someones baby still inside, very close to home. Was scary to hear and unimagineable how the parents must of felt. Once someone posted to Facebook the Admins of Community Watch Groups that were online at the time, shared like a frenzy to all groups and fan pages. Soon all the Facebook Buy & Sell groups and such were sharing and talking about it. Very shortly everyone who was on Facebook knew about it that were online, and were keeping their eyes open. The baby was shortly dropped off at someones house and the thieves took off with the vehicle. The incident was monitored and alot of people were watching and looking out for the vehicle. RCMP nabbed the theives without incident that I am aware of. A happy ending to have the baby back in the arms of the parents, safe and sound. The baby or vehicle may not have been found because of Facebook, but certainly shows how quickly and possible it was to have people all over Alberta watching for this vehicle and baby.
Community Watch is NOT a group of vigilantes or lawless people taking the law into their own hands. Community Watch citizens do not take the place of local law enforcement, enforcing the law, or apprehending criminals. But we can certainly keep our eyes open and report anything we see to local Law Enforcements.
